Canadian Sponsorship FAQs
Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their immediate family and
“other eligible relatives” for permanent residence in Canada. For further
information see Citizenship and Immigration and Canada (CIC):

My Cuba girlfriend and I want to marry in Canada, can I apply for her as my
fiancée or should I sponsor her.
If you have lived together for more than a year, she can be sponsored as a
common-law partner even though you are not married. You will have to prove two
things: A) You have indeed lived together for a year; B) Your relationship is a
genuine relationship and not one for immigration purposes. |
